When I got my first call asking for a head shot, I wasn’t thinking it would be for an 11-year-old! But this very brave girl DOES need a head shot–she has a pretty big audition coming up this weekend. I don’t know about you, but this takes me back to middle school solo contest days and how NERVOUS I was to play my instrument in front of just one judge and an handful of parents! Well, this girl takes the cake in my book because she will be auditioning for a Muny cast spot in front of more than just one judge and a couple of parents! Ella was quite the trooper to head out on a winter day to take pictures for her upcoming audition. Most kids take awhile to warm up in front of the camera. But not this one! She’s a natural beauty who smiled right on cue with every click of my shutter button. (You’ll have to scroll to the bottom of this post to see which one Mom decided to use for the audition!) And to go right along with this beautiful smile–you should see her dance!! It’s really too bad they didn’t ask me to be a casting judge this weekend…because there’s no doubt who would get my vote!
Ella, regardless of tryouts and whatever results from this weekend–you are VERY brave, and VERY beautiful. And as you already know– because I know who your parents are and the message they most want to communicate to you–your value and true beauty runs much deeper than your darling appearance and your amazing dancing and whatever else you do–or even don’t do–well. It’s often hard to remember that in the years that lay ahead of you. Authentic beauty is more beautiful than any make-up on the prettiest face and more moving than the most elegant dance on any famous stage–continue to grow in THAT kind of beauty. You have a pretty big cheering section behind you for not only your tryouts this weekend, but for everything else in life to follow. Many blessings to you, Ella!!
