South Dakota Family Session – St. Louis Photographer

When a friend offers to bring you out to the GORGEOUS Black Hills for both a family and a senior session, you take her up on it! The idea was to take fall pictures, but I landed in Rapid City to snow–and flew out in snow. However, the two days in between were glorious! Well, let’s just say they were glorious weather AND friendship-wise. But I think Rebecca and I might dispute the glorious part when it comes to some other crazy moments of the trip. That whole part about one of us needing to go to the emergency room at 4am and the other one literally falling down the stairs and bruising the whole side of her body wasn’t too much fun. But don’t worry, it makes for a great story and we are all laughing over it now. And besides, NOTHING is going to stop this family from a STUNNING gallery of portraits. And that is exactly what they pulled off!

I met Rebecca in Solberg Hall at Augustana College in Sioux Falls twenty-five years ago when we were freshmen. Soon after, we had both married two guys who make everyone laugh hysterically whenever we are together–or at least Rebecca and I seem to be always laughing–and we lived in apartments just across the hall from each other in our early college days. Fast forward several years of babies and moves and somehow always squeezing in time for friendship and dessert, and you land where we are now. I could’ve never predicted what a sweet gift the Lord was giving that day we chatted over loaded nachos after our 2-mile run. But He did. Many of you know Rebecca and I, along with our oldest boys, traveled to Uganda together this past summer. And I couldn’t be more grateful to share such a moving experience with my sweet friend.
