It feels like the world needs a beautiful love story, one that inspires and gives us something to aspire to, and this is certainly a pair that lives out such a story and made the entire afternoon at their Forest Park session incredible. When their daughter, Bethany, called me in hopes of booking a milestone session to celebrate her parents while they were in town, I knew it was a session I needed to make happen. It’s not often I hear such high praise about parents who are ready to celebrate 46 years of marriage. Now, let’s not kid ourselves. No couple has made it 46 years and had every moment be bliss. I had never met Craig and Sallyann before their session, but I’m sure if we had had time to grab a cup of coffee, they would agree that life isn’t just a bed of roses. So knowing that all marriages are filled with beautiful seasons and brutally hard seasons and just plain old mundane days, I was struck by their tenderness and kindness towards each other. I would’ve been happy to set the camera down, sit on a bench, and just enjoy watching them interact together as if I weren’t there. Truly, their essence permeated the entire session and I left feeling inspired and filled with awe that there really is such beautiful love in this world.
