When we were at a church picnic one week before this gorgeous family’s session, Denise may have thought I was a little crazy suggesting we return to the area the following Sunday and have a creek family session. She is so very sweet that I’m sure she would never tell me to my face, but I’ve seen them done before and I knew it would be beautiful. We spent the day before choosing outfits together, and I loved getting to be a part of the details! We had clothes scattered all over her living room, and soon enough we had their wardrobe narrowed down!
The day of the session, we photographed a handful of images before we waded into the creek. The light was gorgeous, the afternoon was plenty warm, and the water felt wonderful on such a humid day. We did a few posed captures, and then it was time to relax and have fun! They pulled out the bubbles, they threw rocks, and I was there to just snap away. It is always incredibly beautiful to me to capture a family being a family. If I can be any part of making art out of the essence of those connections, I am happy–because they are some of the biggest gifts we are given in this life.
