Ellen and Devin’s Defiance Ridge Vineyards wedding was nothing short of a fairytale, I felt like we stepped into a dream. I met Devin back in his teenage days, so to see him marry his beautiful bride had me just a bit emotional on their big day. When Devin proposed, he asked me if I would like to photograph it. Since I’m always a sap for the spectacular, I was thrilled to hear that he was going to propose in front of the St. Louis Ferris Wheel. Talk about epic! And it was–both in the proposal and the pictures! That night was the first night I met Ellen, and I couldn’t have loved her more within the first minute of meeting her. Fast forward through many months, which included Ellen finishing up her masters degree and wedding planning through Covid, and we landed on a stunning May 16. Rain was in the forecast for that day, and it was raining on my drive out to the venue. But the skies cleared before I pulled into the beautiful Defiance Ridge Vineyards, and the rain stayed away until I was leaving the reception to return home.
Ellen looked like a princess in her gorgeous Cinderella gown. It was everything sparkly and twirly and all the things I would’ve dreamed of as a little girl imaging the perfect wedding dress. She was beautiful, just as it should be. Devin and Ellen had a fabulous bridal party, an incredible vendor team, and were surrounded by all the love of several family and friends. You could feel the energy in the reception, as everyone seemed to take to the dance floor in celebration. We topped off the night with a grand sparkler exit, the perfect ending to their fairytale day.

And I also want to give a shout out to Ellen and Devin’s vendor team. What a gorgeous venue! What gorgeous details! What a delicious dinner and yummy cake. Oh, and don’t forget the DJ! He certainly knows how to throw a party!
