When my cousin asked if there was time to squeeze in a family portrait session while her family was visiting from Colorado, you know I jumped at the chance! Their visit would be late fall, and most of the colors had fallen from the trees. I was trying to decide the best location that still held some beauty, and was sweating it a little because I knew just about anything I decided on wouldn’t hold a candle to the beautiful Rocky Mountains that surrounded them everyday! But as all family portrait sessions go, the focus really isn’t on the backdrop as much as it is on the precious souls front and center of whatever backdrop I choose–thank goodness! And so before we even began–despite the chilly air, despite the runny nose, and despite the crazy schedule–I knew the end result would be beautiful. Because that’s just how it goes when you photograph a family as precious as this one.
Here are some of their top picks. Of course, I love that the first image below has already been made into a beautiful canvas and is en route this weekend to their home in Colorado. I may just have to invite myself over for a visit so I can see it in person!
