There is something so pure and beautiful when a new baby arrives in a family. Sometimes you may not realize it at the time if you are the mom or dad of a newborn–you might be a little too tired to notice. But it is there. This kind of beauty transcends the exhaustion. It rises above whatever illnesses the other kids come down with right after their baby brother comes home. It overrides the frustration of the family van needing to go to the shop to be fixed at just the wrong time. As one who has brought home seven newborns herself, I found myself a little emotional putting together this sweet family’s final gallery. It’s raw. It’s real. And it’s one of the most powerfully beautiful seasons in life that you don’t always appreciate until you’re on the outside looking in.
Rachel and Joe, however, seem to know that beauty. Even in the middle of a little craziness right now, these two exude the love and joy that every child should experience from their mom and dad. And their children radiate out that same love and joy their parents continue to plant in. It’s refreshing. It’s transcendent. It’s energizing. It’s LOVE.
Meet baby Teddy. Then Coren. And Jane. Three beautiful children with two pretty fantastic parents. And as you scroll down through some of our favorites, I hope you’ll notice the minions band aid that is perfectly fashioned on a certain little leg. When we discussed at their viewing session whether or not to make the band aid disappear with a little Photoshop magic, the deciding factor was the 20-year question. In 20 years, when they are looking at this portrait of their son as a little boy, will they want the band aid there or not?
Well, you can see what their answer was…and it would’ve been mine as well!
