Ahhhhhhhh…my son and his beautiful bride had the most gorgeous sunset wedding by a lake and it couldn’t have been a more perfect night. I’ve been sitting on this post for awhile now, as I am not sure where to begin. Daniel told me last summer on our last day in Uganda that by this summer he wanted to be married to Kaitlyn, and I knew it was time. These high school sweethearts had been together for plenty of time, and thus the wedding planning began. So much of their day was ALL them. Kaitlyn had always dreamed of designing and making her wedding gown. So she did. They both love swords and knives and everything sharp, so that was incorporated beautifully into their ceremony. Daniel is known for his bare feet or flip flips–regardless of the season or occasion. So guess what? Yeah, that happened, too! Kaitlyn’s creativity wove its way into the fabric of every last detail, and I am amazed at everything she pulled off. Oh, and let’s not forget her GIGANTIC game of battleship for the reception…one of the coolest things I have ever seen.
Friends and family alike played an incredible role in pulling off their special day. I’m hoping to get another post out soon of all that went on behind the scenes, because we have so many people to thank! The love and support that surrounds these two is incredible. It began late last summer when Paul & Rebecca Larson offered their property to host the wedding. And the effort and love that was put into preparing and hosting is so overwhelming that I don’t think I could adequately describe how grateful we are. It was a gorgeous venue, and it turned out more beautiful than we could’ve ever dreamed.
Photographing my son’s wedding seemed like a ridiculous idea originally, but I am so glad I did. I had an amazing team of photographers/videographers who pulled it off with me and I am incredibly thankful for their willingness to roll with my crazy. We had a top-notch team of vendors for the wedding, and we cannot speaking highly enough of their talents. Here is the all-star line up that made Daniel & Kaitlyn’s day fabulous:

As for the happily ever after, Daniel and Kaitlyn have already had quite a busy summer. Immediately after their honeymoon at Lake Tahoe, the couple traveled to Uganda, moved into their first home, and will soon be headed back to college. As their photographer, they were amazing. And as their mom/mother-in-law, they ARE amazing. Be sure to scroll down through a handful of our favorites…
