Getting to do this particular family session back in my hometown of Manning, Iowa was such a treat for me. When I moved to Manning the summer before my sophomore year in high school, Jodi quickly became a dear friend. In fact, she was gracious enough to tell me the name of the cute guy playing basketball in the red gym shorts the year I came to town, and then stood by me as I married that cute guy a handful of years later. Some friendships fade over the years, and others are able to pick up where they leave off whenever there are moments to grab–I couldn’t be more thankful that ours is the latter. Things have changed for both of us since those early years, as we both have picked up a husband and a house full of kids. But whenever I am in town and we can pull it off, we’ll stay up ridiculously late chatting over Diet Cokes and red licorice trying to catch up on the months and distance that separate us.
Eric and Jodi moved back to our hometown with their family a few years ago, and I think Manning has been tremendously blessed to have them. There is a heart and soul to Iowa small town living that is hard to describe unless you’ve lived it. And the people and families that reside in Manning make it a special place. The Ramsey clan is a beautiful embodiment of what it means to embrace community and family, and these pictures only scratch the surface of that beauty. Here are a few of our favorites…
