Ahhhh, I couldn’t have loved photographing this family storytelling session at Klondike Park more! It was the love and connection of family that initially drew me to wanting to get a camera, and over the years, the heart and soul of my business hasn’t changed. If you’ve followed me at all, you know Ben and Emily are near and dear to my heart. I met Ben when he was just a teen, Emily has become one of my treasured assistant photographers for my weddings, and I have loved photographing their family grow on those days in between. Photography has become so much more than just that perfect portrait for me. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE those portraits and I make sure we get them. But with my family sessions, I love even more allowing the story to play out and being their to capture it. Taking an hour out of the day and letting those connections happen. Grabbing those details of chubby hands and cheeks and snuggles. I know as my kids have gotten older, I treasure remembering those details, and there’s no better way to remember than those photographs. And that is what I loved about this session. James with his real smile…and also that cheese smile. The way he loved the sand, they way he kissed his baby sister’s shoulder. THOSE CURLS. Her tiny steps…the way she has her Daddy wrapped right around her finger.
